Sunshine and Happiness

My mother tells me that checking her email is like another chore she has to do. I think she needs few more blog subscriptions. I wanted to think hard about which blogs bring a little bit of fun into my email. So, here is my real post for the Sunshine award. Thanks again to Ahimsamaven for nominating me. Her comment was a generous compliment: olyeats I dig how honest the author of this blog is. Reading her blog is like wandering into a patisserie of words and life experience. Plus there’s a recipe tucked into each post. Om Nom Life.

The rules of this award are as follows:

• Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
• Answer 10 questions about yourself.
• Nominate 10 other fabulous bloggers.
• Link your nominees to this post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.
• Share the love and link the person who nominated you.

And the nominees are…..

Terrified Tastebud – I think Deb and I were separated at birth. She definitely got more of the cooking gene. Her cooking school documentary is lovely.  http//

A Non-Writing Writer Courting Insanity – I look forward every morning to an inspired snippet of writing. I dream of being such a wordsmith.

RoxyVespa – Who wouldn’t love a girl who kicks around Israel on her Vespa? I enjoy her kitsch-cool pictures and charming stories about her travels.

Manipal’s Photo Blog – Eye-candy and sweetness. Where can I get a man as delightful as this blog?

K. O Rasoi – I love Indian food. Enough said.

Project 365 by Kenneth Todd – A simple idea. A picture every day. I still have to buy the train pics for my son’s room.

A Detailed House – Yes, if  I have one semi-secret indulgence, it is to oggle pictures of pretty houses. Not that mine is ever really clean enough to look like these, or that I really care on a daily basis, but I am a fan of good design.

Domestic Diva, MD – Her short, funny stories remind me of my aunt.

Another Kitchen Blog – Simple, Italian and delicious.

Suehealy – I enjoy and try to apply her writing tips when ever I can. She gives some indispensable tools for crafting a story. I often forward them to JJ – seems he hasn’t quite figured out the value of practice yet.

Here is the part I don’t like about these award. Talking about yourself. I guess I feel I do that enough in this blog, but in the spirit of fun, here you go:

  1. Favorite color: Do I have to choose? No.
  2. Favorite animal: Diatoms
  3. Favorite number: 42, of course
  4. Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Mango Lassi or Limonata
  5. Prefer Facebook or Twitter: Neither. Prefer talking over a drink or in bed.
  6. My passion: Knowing
  7. Prefer getting or giving presents: Giving, by far
  8. Favorite pattern: En Crois
  9. Favorite day of the week: Which ever one I get to spend reading a good book.
  10. Favorite flower: Lillies

I leave you with the first paragraph of a book I simply devoured when I was 15. (Thank you Sharon Thomas.) I liked it so much I memorized some parts of it, along with Goethe, Rilke, Heine (All in German – thank you Herr Ward) and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Thank you anonymous corner book store).

Once upon a time and a very good time it was there was a moocow coming
down along the road and this moocow that was coming down along the road
met a nicens little boy named baby tuckoo…

His father told him that story: his father looked at him through a
glass: he had a hairy face. – J.J.

  1. Well, shoot you. Thanks for all your sunshine too. I have not posted any of these awards yet, but I think that I will have to finally work in a big shout out to you and the other lovely folks in an upcoming “beyond the scoot” post. Thank you again for the love!! Cheers! And get your vespa on! Woo hoo kitsch!

  2. You are too kind- we really might have been separated 😉 and I’m pretty sure we split the cooking gene right down the middle. And you got more of the writing gene, so we’d be even anyway. You have a fantastic list of several blogs I’m not familiar with yet, so I’m going to have fun exploring! Thank you 🙂
